Studio monitor headphones are meant for professional use. They have sound signature best suited for recording or mixing, which means they’re supposed to sound as close as possible to real life counterparts of the sounds you hear. They have an uninteresting sound, which can make music less enjoyable to listen to.
Studio headphones have flat frequency response, which makes them great for hearing all the details in a mix. Cheap headphones are often listed as studio headphones, because it sounds cool. Some premium brands might also do it.
Studio monitoring headphones are usually open back to offer better sound quality and get an airier sound. Closed back studio headphones also exist and they’re great for live situations and usage near microphones. True studio monitor headphones would not usually fall into the ‘cheap’ price category, but there are exceptions.
