Condenser microphones or sometimes also referred to as capacitor microphones consist of an electrically conductive thin membrane in close proximity to a solid metal plate. Sound waves make the membrane move back and forth relative to a solid backplate, which creates an electric field between the two. Some condenser microphones require an external power source, usually known as phantom power. Most modern audio interfaces support it.
Condenser microphones are often used in studios. They can capture much higher quality audio than dynamic microphones, because of their wider frequency response and ability to capture more transients.
On this page we only list condenser microphones, we personally would recommend. All items featured are sold on Amazon.
